    CARIBOU – Marvin Axel Hedstrom, Sr., 76, devoted husband of Ola Janet (Cook) Hedstrom, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Bangor. He was born in Caribou, September 16, 1937, the son of Theodore and Evelyn (Larsson) Hedstrom. He was married to Ola Cook on December 10, 1958.
    Marv was employed by Northeast Agricultural Sales, Inc., out of Detroit, Maine, as a sales specialist in Northern Aroostook County, culminating a long, cherished career in the potato industry with the Aroostook Federation of Farmers; Agway; Maine Potato Growers; Pro-Gro; United Agricultural Products; and Northeast Ag. His passion for “his” farmers was known by all he touched. He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, New Sweden; the Caribou Snowmobile Club; the International Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s, Aroostook Valley Lodge #88; and the Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club. A past president of the Caribou Snowmobile Club, he served on the Board of Directors of the Caribou Soup Kitchen for many years. He loved his family and friends, the outdoors, snowmobiling, ATV riding, stock car racing, and helping others.
    Marvin is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Ola of Caribou; his daughter, Rhonda Lee and husband, Miles Stephen Pound, of Holly Springs, NC; and his son, Marvin Axel “Jay” Jr. and his wife, Toni Marie, of Tampa, FL; two grandchildren, Amanda and Stephanie Pound; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind three brothers, Warren, Gary and Alton Hedstrom; as well as two sisters, Marie Garland and Letha Van Kirk; and his four-footed bud, Sammi. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Douglas and David Hedstrom.
    Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. T. Daniel Clayborne officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery at a later date. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Marv may do so through the Caribou Soup Kitchen, 62 Collins Street, Caribou.
