FORT KENT, Maine — The Fort Kent Community High School girls and Caribou High School boys took top honors at the Aroostook League Ski Championships.
The Caribou girls and Fort Kent boys took second place at the two-day nordic ski competition, held Wednesday, March 10, at Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle and Thursday, March 11, at Fort Kent Outdoor Center.
Combined team scores for the girls in classic and freestyle were: Fort Kent, 789; Caribou, 761; Presque Isle High School, 753; Madawaska Middle High School, 573; Ashland High School, 547; and Maine School of Science and Mathematics, 179.
For the boys, the combined team scores were: Caribou, 779; Fort Kent, 764; Madawaska, 758; Ashland, 741; Maine School of Science and Mathematics, 360; and Southern Aroostook High School, 200.
In individual races, the top skiers were Luke Streinz of Southern Aroostook for the boys, who won both the classic and freestyle events, and Mya Eno of Fort Kent who won the freestyle race and Kayley Bell of Caribou who won the girls classic.
