HODGDON, Maine — Allison Winship of Cary, a senior at Hodgdon Middle-High School, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award, Principal Steve Fitzpatrick announced April 27.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Allison is simply an outstanding individual in every way,” Fitzpatrick said. “She is a consummate and driven academic student, ranking fourth in Hodgdon’s Class of 2021”.
Winship will attend the University of Maine Augusta, where she will pursue a bachelor of science degree in veterinary tech with a concentration in biology.
“In all of her endeavors, Allison has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, the capability and execution of leadership, and community as well as social responsibility,” Fitzpatrick said. “There is no question that she very much deserves this recognition because she has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the sports field, and within her community. She is universally respected by her peers, teachers, her community and represents all that our educational community holds in value. The entire SAD 70 district is proud to call Allison one of ours.”
Winship, Fitzpatrick, and other award winners and their principals will participate in a live virtual scholarship drawing event on Friday, May 14, at 1 p.m. At that time, ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
She is the daughter of Lisa Prosser and David Winship.
