ASHLAND, Maine — Ashland District School senior Hailee Cunningham of Ashland was recently selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award, according to Principal Joel Hall.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship
“Hailee has truly made her mark at Ashland District School in terms of her school and community service, scholarship and leadership. Hailee is an outstanding academic student with high goals and expectations for herself,” Hall said.
“Hailee has always excelled while taking the most difficult classes ADS has to offer. Hailee has participated in many other co-curricular clubs and athletics in order to stay a well-rounded student,” he said.
Cunningham has served as president of the Class of 2021 for the past two years. She has been highly successful in a variety of FFA competitions at the state and national levels. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She has also participated on the varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams. She has also participated in modern band, instrumental band and show choir. She has been successful at this while working as a CNA since June of 2020.
Cunningham is the daughter of Lance and Michaelene Cunningham of Ashland. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle and major in nursing.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
