Grades 3-4 basketball sign-up

The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is now accepting registration for its third- and fourth-grade basketball league.
Registration will run through Nov. 20. The cost is $25. Registration must be done in person at the William V. Haskell Community Center on Main Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Turkey Trot

The 28th Caribou Turkey Trot will go off at 10 a.m. at Caribou High School on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Registration gets under way at 8:30 a.m. and walkers will begin at 9:45 a.m. Registration will take place in the gym lobby at Caribou High School. The race fee is $13 with $1 going towards a 50/50 raffle that will be done upon the conclusion of the race.
This year’s race proceeds will benefit Caribou High School athletics and youth running in the local communities.
The race will feature the same course as in the past, heading out on the Woodland Center Road from the high school then out and back on the Lombard Road. The traditional turkey awards will be given to the top age group award winners in the following categories: under 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over, as well as the overall male and female.
The post-race meal will be the delicious traditional turkey-topped pizza.  Families are strongly encouraged to attend this year’s race.
“We hope to see a great turnout this year and really look to emphasize the concept of fitness and the health benefits that come along with it. The 5K is a great distance that even middle school-aged children can enjoy and run,” said race director Evan Graves.
A long sleeve T-shirt will be available to the first 70 runners to register. E-mail Graves at gravespi@gmail.com for more information.

Season tickets

Season tickets for Presque Isle High School hockey and basketball games will go on sale Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the athletic office. Call 764-6507 for more information.
