Non-profit informational conference
set for Nov. 20
PRESQUE ISLE — In the past few years, Aroostook County has had many economic challenges. It is because of this that many non-profit organizations have begun to take a much more important role in providing services in our communities and taking over roles that may have been funded by taxes in the past.
“As a local non-profit entity (Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery), we have seen how a small group of dedicated people can have a huge impact on the citizens of a community,” said Craig Green. “To foster education and dialogue on the subject of building, funding and growing a local non-profit business, we are announcing our first-ever Local Non-Profit Educational Conference.”
This free event, sponsored by C-A-N-C-E-R, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center beginning at 3 p.m.
Speakers from C-A-N-C-E-R, the Presque Isle Historical Society, TAMC, the Aroostook House of Comfort and Cary Medical Center will give the presentations.
“At the end of the meeting, we will have an informal time to visit and get information from Aroostook County non-profits,” said Green. “This vendor/information area is open to any non-profit in Aroostook organization that has been invited to attend the event. Bring your information and introduce yourself to the Aroostook County non-profit community.”
Space is limited for the vendor/information area and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call to reserve a spot ASAP.
A welcome and presentations will be held from 3-5 p.m., while refreshments, a meet and greet and vendor information tables will occur from 5-6 p.m.
