NEW LIMERICK, Maine — As a reminder to all who are playing at the course. If your ball lands in any of the bunker improvement locations, these are all deemed ‘Ground Under Repair’ which is a mandatory lift.
This means you are to remove your ball from the bunker and/or sod and move it to the nearest relief no closer to the hole.
Over the Fourth of July weekend we hosted the annual Houlton Alumni Golf Scramble. We had a full roster of 18 teams, even having to turn some away unfortunately. At the end of the 9-hole tournament the Gross Champions were Lexi Emerson, Ian Gervais, Wally Peabody, Tyler Wheton. The Net Champions were Greg Palmer, Greg Palmer Jr., Scotte Flannery, Damon Stone. Congratulations to all the winners and we thank everyone for coming out and supporting the Houlton Alumni Association.
On Sunday we held our first Golf For Life Scramble of the year. Turnout was great for both Members and Golf For Life graduates. The teams consisted of Members and Golf For Life participants paired up. Following this 9-hole scramble there was a social reception at the clubhouse for all participants. It was so well received we have our next one scheduled for Aug. 15.
Junior golf is still going strong. A big Thank You to Dave Grant for putting this on every year, all the kids have a great time getting to know how to play the game of golf. As a reminder each Monday from 8:30 to 10:30 the course will be closed to regular play to allow the next generation of golfers to play at their own pace.
