No marbles left to fight for
To the editor:
Governor LePage removed the labor union murals from the Department of Labor offices when he became governor. I guess I have a question to ask about this.
There is something I don’t understand. The Republican Party and people like Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove, John Boehner, and our Governor have won all the marbles. They have squeezed every single solitary last penny from the working poor and given it to the wealthy, Corporate America, and Wall Street. There are no marbles left to fight for.
Why do they hate the working poor, hate the Democrats, and hate President Obama so much? I am not so infuriated and intimidated by Marxist ideology that I cannot see the immense relevance of conflict theory in modern society. I am also aware of the historical forces that allowed democracy to survive the industrial revolution. I am somewhat perplexed by the absence of social science in modern society.
