Working class

not represented in budget proposal

To the editor:
I have been watching “Bill Moyers” on Sunday night. The program dedicates a lot of time explaining how big corporate money circulates through Washington.

There are big rewards for lawmakers who leave office and enter government and private lobbying jobs. This provides a lot of incentive for lawmakers to support legislation for big government and big business. There is very little incentive to support initiatives that benefit the working class.
This is evident in the latest federal budget proposal. Big Business will continue to receive quantitative easing and no new taxes. There will be a reduction in sequestration to help big government.
The thing that would really help the country with the economic situation has been left out. Congress will not consider a fiscal stimulus to put unemployed Americans back to work. Congress will not extend unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed.
Big government and Corporate America get the lion’s share and the working class gets nothing. This is how our legislative and executive branches revolve around big money in Washington. The working class is no longer in the picture.
