WASHBURN, Maine — Principal Lawrence Worcester, along with the staff of Washburn District High School, have announced the most recent Students of the Month.

Richard “Trey” Gilbert III was the Student of the Month for August, while Siara Henthorn was recognized with the title for September.

Gilbert is a junior and the son of Richard and Tracy Gilbert.

Gilbert is known for coming in every day ready to work, and for being willing to lend a helping hand. Teachers said he has been an amazing help to some of the younger students in his class and expressed their pride in him.

Henthorn is a sophomore and the granddaughter of Kelly Lunney.  By nature a quiet student, this year she has taken a leadership role in her class, being elected as the class secretary/treasurer.

“Siara always engages and participates in discussions.  She’s friendly to her peers and does excellent work in her classes,” said Ms. Jones.

“(Siara) is self-motivated and understands the importance of school.  She’s a wonderful student to have in class,” said Mrs. Hemphill.

Henthorn participates in the Upward Bound and Early College programs.
