      MURPHY, Sarah J. “Sally”, 83, FORT FAIRFIELD, at Presque Isle, January 17, 2014. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are in care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

    FORT FAIRFIELD — Sarah J. “Sally” Murphy, 83, wife of the late Donald H. Murphy, passed away Friday afternoon, January 17, 2014 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born September 2, 1930, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Alfred and Sarah (Carrigan) Goodwin.
    She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1950 and was married to Donald H. Murphy on September 7, 1950. Sally was fond of playing cards, music, and dancing. She also enjoyed creating crafts, and going to garage sales. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her husband Donald on January 29, 2008; two grandchildren, Sydney and Samantha Watt; three brothers, William “Bill”, Ralph, and Harold Goodwin; three sisters, Harriett “Mabel” Whitmore, Marilyn Goodwin, and Gladys Howlett. She is survived by four daughters, Pamela J. Kaucher of Fort Fairfield, Lynn Billings and her husband, Kent, of Stewartstown, PA, Sally J. Burnell of Fort Fairfield, Anna M. Watt and her husband, Timothy, of Fort Fairfield; one son, Barry D. Murphy and his wife, Donna, of Ronkonkoma, NY; ten grandchildren, Kenneth Kaucher Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Amy Billings Bedford of Austin, TX, Marcus Billings of York, PA, Connor and Logan Murphy of Ronkonkoma, NY, Timothy Burnell of Columbia, SC, Angela Burnell King of Washburn, Ashley Bouchard, Keegan and Sarah Watt, all of Fort Fairfield; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Noah and Brody Bedford of Austin, TX, Christian and Addison Billings of York, PA, Aubree and Timothy James Burnell of Columbia, SC; one sister, Vera Johnston of Fort Fairfield, currently residing in Mars Hill; numerous nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Doughty officiating. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield at a later date. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will take place after the funeral at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
