CARIBOU, Maine — The Halfway Home Pet Rescue spay/neuter clinic originally scheduled for this week has been rescheduled due to COVID-19 issues in southern Maine.
The new clinic will be held in the game room at the Caribou Wellness Center on Friday, Jan. 14; Saturday, Jan. 15; and Sunday, Jan. 16. People must wear masks and wait in their cars to be called into the center. Only three people can be inside at a time for distancing purposes.
Dr. Beth Sperry, owner of Back Roads Veterinary Services, notified Milton one vet tech had tested positive and as a team they felt that the clinic should be postponed.
Each scheduled person will receive a call by next weekend, Jan. 9 or 10, of their cat’s new date and time.
Norma Milton, president of HHPR, said volunteers are working hard to contact everyone by telephone.
“We are doing our best because public safety is our highest priority,” Milton said. “We hope our clinic applicants will be patient and realize public health safety is mandated.”
The clinic is free, but donations are appreciated. Cats will receive spay/neuter, vaccinations of rabies and distemper, parasite treatment, ear cleaning, a dental checkup and nail trimming.
The January clinic is full but applications are being accepted for the April clinic.
