Benefit supper to help send Curriers to Sochi

Some local friends of the Aroostook County skiing community will hold a benefit supper to help send Chris and Debbie Currier of Stockholm to see their son, Russell Currier, represent the U.S. in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Russia.
The spaghetti supper will be held at the Caribou High School cafeteria on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 4-6 p.m. Donations will be accepted, and cards will be signed to wish the new Olympian good luck in the competition.
“After the wonderful news about Russell being named to the U.S. Biathlon Team for the Winter Olympics, there was so much excitement and anticipation in the air, and a lot of people wanted to do something to honor this achievement and help in some way,” said Bob Sprague, Currier’s former high school ski coach and one of the organizers of the supper.
“Many, many community people all wanted to do something to help Chris and Debbie go to the Olympics and watch their son compete,” he added.
Those who are unable to attend and would like to make a donation may send a check made out to Snowy Mountain Trails, which is the nonprofit organization that takes care of the ski trails in Stockholm, for the Curriers, care of Tamara Cote, 20 Station Street, Stockholm, Maine 04783.
