AUGUSTA, Maine — Aroostook County cheering squads from Presque Isle, Houlton, Caribou and Central Aroostook all participated in the state competition Saturday at the Augusta Civic Center.
The Panthers of Central Aroostook placed third out of five squads in the Class D competition. Monmouth/Winthrop won the Class D state title with a score of 69.40; followed by Bangor Christian with 47.50. CAHS tallied 39.30 points.
In the Class B competition, Presque Isle placed 10th out of 19 teams with a score of 50.20. Medomak Valley of Waldoboro won the Class B title with a score of 85.60.
In the Class C competition, Houlton/GHCA placed 10th out of 17 squads with a score of 55.30. Caribou was 14th with a score of 44.20. Lisbon won the Class C state title with a score of 68.35.
“I am very happy with the performance the girls gave on Saturday,” Houlton coach Maggie Small said. “Our scores went up in multiple categories from our regional competition. We were able to add our third stunt group back in last week, which was very exciting. This year has been unlike any before, but the girls always came to practice with a positive attitude and ready to work hard.”
