HOULTON, Maine – Katahdin Trust recently partnered with the United Way of Aroostook for its annual workplace giving campaign. The Bank and its employees raised a total of $22,000 to help provide a better quality of life for people experiencing challenges and hardships in Aroostook County.
“As a local community bank, we are extremely proud of our employees and the many ways in which we can make a difference in our neighborhoods,” said Krista Putnam, executive vice president & chief marketing officer at Katahdin Trust.
Katahdin Trust employees pledged nearly $13,500 for the 2021 giving campaign and contributed an additional $750 through their dress-down “Casual Because We Care” program. Employee donations were combined with the Bank’s corporate and in-kind contributions, including its annual support of the United Way Summer Slide Reading Program.
In addition to Katahdin Trust supporting several local events and organizations, the company provides employees with paid time off to volunteer their time and energy to the causes they feel are important to them.
“Giving back and supporting the local communities we serve throughout northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions remains a top priority for the Bank,” added Putnam.
“Katahdin Trust has been vital to our community’s health,” stated Sarah Duncan, executive director at United Way of Aroostook. “A successful recovery from this pandemic involves us all. Katahdin Trust’s leadership donation each year from their employees and business to United Way of Aroostook will play a vital role in creating a recovery that harnesses the incredible power, resiliency and skills of the people that make Aroostook County such a welcoming place to live. Each year their gift helps us help meet needs of today and begin to break down systemic barriers for a more equitable tomorrow. We couldn’t make the impact we make without their incredibly generosity.”
