BANGOR and CASTLE HILL, Maine — A Castle Hill man has been sentenced to five years in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.
Jeff Curtis, 40, received the five-year prison sentence Tuesday along with three years of supervised release at Maine District Court in Bangor. His case was heard by U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker, according to U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee.
Curtis was allegedly involved in a conspiracy between about July 2018 and May 2019 to distribute Mexican drugs in Aroostook County, court records said. Members of the group obtained the drugs in western and southern states, distributing them in Aroostook County and other parts of Maine, according to records.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and state and local law enforcement worked with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations on the case.
The investigation was part of an operation by Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, a group that works to identify and dismantle criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
