Ending the sale off flavored tobacco

To the editor:

A recent Maine survey has revealed that most Maine citizens approve of ending the sale of flavored tobacco products in our state.

A ban on flavored tobacco products will help prevent Maine’s youth from starting smoking and later becoming addicted to the toxic ingredients. Most Mainers agree that our children’s overall health and well-being far outweigh the potential financial benefits gained from the sale of flavored tobacco products. The proposed ban includes menthol cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and other candy-flavored tobacco products that target our youth and other vulnerable populations.

Reach out to your state legislators and to Governor Mills and let them know that the future of our children matters and that they should support LD 1550, An Act to End the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products.

As a concerned citizen and former community educator, I realize the importance of sharing the message to stop the sale of flavored tobacco products in our state.
