Historical Society plans first trolley ‘hop’
The Presque Isle Historical Society will be hosting a brand new event for Molly the Trolley in celebration of Easter.
“It’s our first annual ‘Bunny Hop.’ On Saturday, April 19, Molly will provide four ‘hops’ to get children to the 1875 Vera Estey House where they will have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny and then participate in an Easter egg hunt,” said Kim Smith, spokesperson and treasurer of the organization, adding, “the site may be changed at the discretion of the Society due to weather.”
Molly will be decked out for Easter with her very own set of bunny ears, nose and tail as well as seasonal decorations on the inside. Kids will be treated to Easter music such as “Here comes Peter Cottontail” while on the short ride from Riverside Park to the Estey House.
The “hops” are scheduled for 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 per child and $5 for adults. Adults must be accompanied by a child! Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis and will go on sale Friday, March 14. from 6-8 p.m. at the Hampton Inn at 768 Main St. in Presque Isle and again on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hampton. Seats are limited as Molly only holds 32 riders at a time.
“Each hop must have a minimum of 10 riders to be a ‘go,’” said Smith.
The event is sponsored in part by the Irish Setter Pub and the Hampton Inn. For more information on this event or any of the Society’s programs, or to make a tax-deductible contribution, call 762-1151 or email pihistoricalsociety@hotmail.com.
