The Washburn Parent Teacher Organization is spending the month of February helping to raise awareness of bullying and offering ways to prevent it. Activities this month include a Teacher Door Decoration Contest; one winner from the elementary and one winner from the middle school level will receive a pizza party sponsored by Country Farms Market and White’s Exxon.
Each Friday during February children can bring in $1 and dress in the theme of the day. The theme for Feb. 7 was “Being a Friend is no Sweat.” Children were to wear sweatpants and sweatshirts. The last Friday in February, the 28th, is “United We Stand: Our School Believes, Achieves & Succeeds in Being Bully-Free.” Students are to wear purple and gold. Students during this month in the elementary and middle school levels will also be learning about being bully-free and learn about character awareness.

Also during the ceremony Boy Scout Troop 177 conducted a Court of Honor, presenting several rank advancements and merit badges.
