The first Mapleton spring event was held Saturday, March 26, by the Mapleton Daze Committee and was their annual drive-thru spaghetti dinner.
The committee wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out for meals and made donations to help fund the 2022 Mapleton Daze week. The committee promises that Mapleton Daze 2022 will be an awesome time because of the generosity of the community and beyond.
Mapleton Daze will run from June 21 to June 26. This year’s event week will feature traditional activities such as Bingo, the cribbage tournament, Mapleton Lions chicken barbecue, the parade, the talent show and the fireworks show. Also there will be a show by the Star City Syndicate as well as some new activities that are yet to be announced.
A baked bean dinner fundraiser for the Haystack Historical Society will be held at the museum on June 21 to open Mapleton Daze. On June 22nd, the Dialed Action Sports (FMX) Dirt Bike Stunt Show will be held at the Mapleton Elementary School. Game night (Bingo and the Woodie Waddell Memorial Cribbage Tournament) will held on June 23rd at the Mapleton Lions Hall.
On June 24 at the Mapleton Lions Hall will be the chicken barbecue, followed by the Star City Syndicate and fireworks shows at the Mapleton Elementary School. Then on Saturday, June 25, a full day of events and activities will occur from Haystack Mountain to the Haystack Historical Museum.
The committee will release a full listing of events later this spring, so be watching and following the schedule and updates in this column and on the Mapleton Daze Facebook page.
Spring Craft Fair relocated, new date
The Mapleton Daze Committee’s Annual Spring Craft Fair and Vendor Sale will be held at the Mapleton Elementary School on its new date of Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
By holding the fair at the school, there will be lots of space for crafters and vendors as well as space for buyers to move between booths. Everyone is invited to come and browse the school, which will be filled with talented local people. There will be more than 35 crafters and vendors coming to the fair.
The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance at the craft fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those attending may bring their phones or other cameras to get pictures of the little ones as they visit with him.
At the moment the Mapleton Daze Committee plans on requiring people to wear masks. This requirement could change as the date comes closer.
So mark your calendars and plan to attend the Spring Craft and Vendor Fair in order to support the 2022 Mapleton Daze.
Chapman meeting
The Chapman annual town meeting was held at the Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile and ATV Clubhouse on March 21 following the vote on a Local Liquor option that read: “Shall this municipality authorize the State to issue licenses for the sale of liquor to be consumed on the premises of licensed establishments on days other than Sunday?” This option was approved by the voters.
Also by vote from the floor, the select board/assessor position for a term of three years was won by Isaac Braley. All items in the town warrant were passed as well.
