PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — In a pageant held Saturday, April 9, Presque Isle crowned six new queens for the year.
The local pageants made a comeback after COVID-19 pandemic restrictions canceled the events for the past two years. The last time the auditorium at Presque Isle High School hosted a pageant was in 2019, but that all changed Saturday night.
Thanks to the Presque Isle Elks Ladies Auxiliary, 15 young ladies were able to return to the stage, under the direction of Heidi Estabrook and her pageant committee made up of Betsy Fitzherbert, Kathy Maynard and Casey Estabrook
The event also allowed the 2019 queens to officially give up their titles, after a three year reign. Reigning 2019 queens who passed titles to their successors included Mini Miss Brooklyn Beaulieu, Little Miss Ainsley Putnam, Pre-Teen Miss Johanna Cote, Junior Miss Jorgia Maynard, Teen Miss Madison Hedrich, and Miss Kacie Chapman.
The 2022 titles were awarded to Mini Miss Caroline Cole, Little Miss Reagan Dixon, Pre-Teen Miss Natalie Putnam, Jr. Miss Madelynn Putnam, Teen Miss Bobbi Guerrette and Miss Presque Isle Rachel Ellis.
Several of the new queens are now preparing for the upcoming Maine Potato Blossom Pageant, which is also making a comeback after being off the schedule for two years.
Others who placed during the evening’s festivities were the six first runners-up, who are: Mini Miss, Mattison Davis; Little Miss, Skyla Dionne; Pre-Teen Miss, Anna Graves; Junior Miss, Johanna Cote; and Miss, Madison Hedrich.
Special recognition went to the following: Sponsor/High Ticket Award, Reagan Dixon, and Directors Choice Award, Teagan Bryce.
