PATTEN, Maine – At a recent meeting the Board of Directors of the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum agreed to make the property available for outdoor private events, such as group gatherings, business meetings, or weddings, for a reasonable fee.
The board was responding to several recent inquiries regarding the use of the grounds, as well as the opportunity to supplement the Museum’s limited income from dues and admission fees.
Other business included accepting fiscal sponsorship of the Friends of the Veteran’s Memorial Library, which is temporarily housed at the Museum; completion of a new security system; rebuilding of the 1820 camp; and establishing a planning committee for the annual Fiddlers and Fiddlehead Festival.
The Fiddlers and Fiddlehead, which was not held last year due to COVID-19, is set for Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with great music, food, craft booths and quilt raffle tickets on the museum rounds.
Opening day for the Museum’s 59th year will be Friday, May 27.
Frank Rogers, grandson of Museum founder Lorie Rogers, was re-elected as the board president while Ken Libby was named vice president and Ken Perkins was selected as treasurer.
Re-elected to the board of directors were Libby and Peter Roy, esq, while Elija Arbo of Patten was newly elected to the board.
