The Mapleton Lions Club’s annual spring auction will end at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 6. Lions have been soliciting items and services through March and April, which are now listed on an online auction catalog that is being hosted by Matt Gregg Auctions. Matt is an active member of the Mapleton Lions Club and is looking forward to this special fundraising event.
Among the items posted are hot air balloon flights, a patio heater, patio umbrellas, grocery store gift cards, oil changes, tools and many other services. There are close to 200 items listed. To view them go to the following link: https://www.greggauctions.com/.
One of the highlights of the Mapleton Daze Craft Fair was the appearance of the Easter Bunny. Children were able to meet the bunny and families were able to take photos of the kids with him.

There will be a preview of auction items from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at the Mapleton Lions Hall. Purchased items may be picked up on May 7 starting at 2 p.m.
This has always been the major fundraiser for the Mapleton Lions Club. Club President Richard Fowler would like to thank the many supporters who have made cash donations to the club as part of the auction fundraising.
Castle Hill artist displays quilts
Dana Allison, Castle Hill Boston Cane holder and well-known quilting artist, closed her April art exhibit sponsored by the Aroostook Agency on Aging. Allison’s striking quilts were hung up and down the corridors of the agency’s office cubicles.

An opening reception was held April 1 with many friends and neighbors coming to view Allison’s quilts and speak with her about the art of quilting. Joy Barresi-Saucier, agency executive director, greeted visitors and helped guide them through the displays.
The quilts on display held many special memories for Allison. Learning to sew at a young age, she moved from darning socks to making quilts at the age of nine. She stepped away from quilt making for a number of years, but then rekindled her interest during America’s bicentennial. She estimated that she has crafted approximately 200 quilts of various sizes and designs. Each quilt has a special significance and design challenge that ranges from idyllic forest scenes, geometric shapes or stories within themselves.
Allison wanted to let everyone how much she appreciated visitors and their comments regarding her work. Their recognition of the art work she enjoys was very meaningful to her.

Successful craft fair
The Mapleton Daze Committee’s Annual Spring Craft and Vendor Sale was held April 16 at the Mapleton Elementary School. Lynnelle Foster, chair of the Mapleton Daze Committee, was pleased with the outcome. More than 30 crafters and vendors attended and were happy to have the large space to display their wares and products.
Craft fair customers flowed steadily through the morning and early afternoon. Everyone browsed the school filled with talented local people and bought gifts and other items. As a special attraction, the Easter Bunny appeared and was photographed with many youngsters. Each child spent time with Peter Cottontail and received a special treat from him.

The Mapleton Daze Committee thanks all who came to the craft fair and helped raise funds for Mapleton Daze 2022 and its many no-charge events and activities for children and families.
Mapleton Daze 2022 will run from June 21 to 26. Events will include a baked bean dinner fundraiser for the Haystack Historical Society on June 21, the Dialed Action Sports (FMX) Dirt Bike show, game night with Bingo and the Woodie Waddell Memorial Cribbage Tournament, Mapleton Lions chicken barbecue and Star City Syndicate and fireworks shows.
