HODGDON, Maine — Staff changes are underway in SAD 70 as the school year rapidly winds to a close.
In addition to having a new high school principal/superintendent for next year, the district will replace its longtime athletic director with a familiar face.
Seth Dorr was named as the new SAD 70 athletic director during the district’s regular monthly meeting held May 9. Dorr, who teaches physical education at Hodgdon Middle-High School and is also the varsity baseball coach, will take over for Wayne Quint, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Dorr will continue serving as a physical education teacher, because SAD 70’s athletic director is a part-time stipend position.
The district also hired Susan Bickford as the new library media specialist and Addison Woods as a high school math teacher. Bickford is employed by the district, while Woods is a 2022 graduate of the University of Maine in Orono.
Woods is a 2018 graduate of Hodgdon Middle-High School who overcame a battle with cancer as a teenager.
Additionally, the board promoted Marjorie Carton, Meghan Kervin, Heather Kowalski, Leslee Mahon and Michelle Stinson from first-year probationary teachers to second-year probationary contracts; and approved Makala Swallow from second-year probationary status to a continuing contract.
The board also accepted the resignation of Amanda Stubbs from an Educational Technician III position.
