Hodgdon High School names top students for 2022

HODGDON, Maine – Principal/Superintendent Stephen Fitzpatrick has named the 2022 honor students for Hodgdon Middle-High School.

Montana Hoops has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2022, while Kaelyn Lawlor has been selected as salutatorian and Delaney Little will be first honor essayist.

Hoops, the daughter of Keith and Elizabeth Hoops of New Limerick, has been president of the National Honor Society, a trumpet player in the school’s band all four years, and was a member of the golf team her sophomore and junior years. She currently works for both Katahdin Trust Company and the Houlton Humane Society. 

Hoops has received high honors consecutively throughout her high school education and was a recipient of the Student of the Month multiple times at Hodgdon. She has studied honors and AP classes all four years and will be graduating with 44 early college credits. 

Hoops has always had a love for animals, especially those in this community. She has shown this love through her work with the Houlton Humane Society where she currently has volunteered for more than 100 hours.

Hoops will attend the University of Maine at Augusta in their vet tech program with aspirations to become a veterinarian. 

Lawlor, the daughter of Trevor and Robin Lawlor of Hodgdon, has been active in the classroom as she has completed several honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment classes, finishing high school with 42 college credits.

As a student-athlete, Lawlor has been a teammate and captain on several varsity sports teams including soccer, basketball, and softball. Additionally, she was chosen to be a member of the All Aroostook Senior All Star Basketball team during her senior year. She has been the treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of the student council. She has consistently received the highest honors honor roll achievement and is currently the recipient of the 2022 Maine Principals Award. Lawlor is currently employed at Hannaford. She is active in her community by volunteering her time to help her local little league softball team. 

Lawlor will attend Northern Maine Community College in the fall to pursue a degree in the medical assisting program. 

Little, the daughter of Shawn and Melissa Little of Hodgdon, is a member of the National Honor Society, has completed multiple Honors, AP and Dual Enrollment courses all four years of high school. Upon graduation, she will have acquiringed 45 college credits from the Early College Program. 

As a student-athlete, Little was a four-year member of both the varsity soccer and softball teams, as well as club volleyball. She has been named to the Northern Regional Class D Team and the All-Aroostook Team for soccer. She was also selected for the 2022 Aroostook League Scholar Athlete award. 

Delaney Little will be matriculating in the Fall of 2022 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle majoring in medical laboratory technology.
