There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Presque Isle Middle School eighth-graders attending the 2014 Discover D.C. trip at the Mapleton Lions Hall Saturday, March 8 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The menu will include spaghetti, meat sauce, salad, roll, drinks and brownie a la mode for dessert. Donations will be accepted.
Birthdays

The cookies are here
Local Girl Scouts will be out and about delivering their cookie orders that were taken in January. If you missed the opportunity to order cookies, don’t worry! You can still purchase cookies at local booth sales that will be coming up this month. The Mapleton Girl Scout troop will be holding a booth sale at The Forum later in the month. Watch this column for dates and times!
Date change
The Mapleton Daze Committee has had to reschedule its spaghetti supper that was planned for March 15. A new date will be announced in the coming weeks. Watch this column for more details.
Church luncheon
The Mapleton United Methodist Church will be hosting its Friday luncheon this Friday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m. All are invited.
Graduation celebrated
Ethan Braley, formerly of Mapleton, graduated from Thomas College in Waterville in December 2013. He graduated a semester early with a bachelor’s degree in finance with a grade point average of 3.56. As a student at Thomas College, Braley served as the president of the Investment Society and vice president of the Entrepreneurial Club.
He completed an internship at Irving Financial Group, a financial advising firm in Bradenton, Fla. during the spring semester of 2013, and now handles the sales and distribution for the Braley family farm, Green Meadow Farms.
Braley lives in Dayton with his wife, Deidre (Dicker) Braley, whom he married June 22, 2013. He is the son of Glendon and Anne Braley of Mapleton.
Groups needed
The Mapleton Daze Committee is looking for volunteer groups that would be willing to provide free activities for children during the June festival. The activities for children will be moved to the soccer field at the Mapleton Community Pool.
