MAPLETON – Freda D. Simpson, 66, died Thursday night Sept. 6, 2007 at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born in Presque Isle on June 20, 1941, the daughter of Perley and Ella (Morse) McPherson.
Freda enjoyed cooking, always cooking for others, and she loved to read. She is survived by three sons, Mark, Kendel and his wife Wendy, Tracy and his wife Lisa, all of Mapleton; a step-son Dean and his wife Nancy of Enfield, Conn.; two daughters, Tami Bowman and her husband Clayton of Woodlawn, VA., and Cindy Clark and her husband David of Mapleton; two sisters and their husbands Phyllis and Stewart Steeves of Browns Flat, N.B. Canada, and Joann and Ronald Wilkinson of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two husbands, Weldon Simpson and Loyce Richardson.
There were no calling hours. A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Monday September 10, 2007 at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton with the Rev. Stewart Steeves officiating. A reception followed at the Mapleton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers those who wish may donate in her memory to the Presque Isle Nursing Home, 162 Academy Street, Presque Isle, 04769.
