     SMITH, Sara Ann Graves, 86, Mars Hill, at Presque Isle, March 7, 2014. There will be no calling hours or funeral at this time. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

     MARS HILL – Sara Ann Graves Smith, 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 7, 2014, at a healthcare facility in Presque lsle, following a brief illness.
    Sara, who was known as Ann by her family and friends, was born September 8, 1927, in Mars Hill, the youngest daughter of John and Viva (York) Graves.
    She attended school in Mars Hill, and graduated from ACI in 1945. During high school, Ann worked at the local pharmacy. After graduation, she worked at the A & P Grocery Store. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence “Larry” Smith who she married on November 10,1953. After she married Larry, she worked alongside of him as they ran Larry’s Gulf Station in Mars Hill for 27 years. In previous years, Ann enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband and son; but her greatest joy was being with her grandkids.
    Ann is survived by her son, Scott Smith of Mars Hill; her grandson, Derek Smith of Portland; granddaughter, Brooke Smith of Fryeburg, and grandson, Bryce Smith of Mapleton. She also leaves behind her two sisters: Joyce and her husband, Carl Stearns of Bangor, and Elizabeth Merkel of Mars Hill; three sisters-in-law, Donna Smith of Mars Hill, and Elizabeth Smith of Greene, ME, Norma Graves of Winter Haver, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry; her sister, Frances McKay; and brother, George “Bud” Graves.
