During the weekend of Feb. 22-23, Scouts and leaders from Washburn’s Troop 177 attended the annual North Star District Winterama and Klondike Derby.

The troop built a large snow dome to sleep in, as well as a snow kitchen to cook their meals.
The Scouts participated in several events during the afternoon and did very well in the standings. Event awards included first place in winter tent pitching, second place on the snow snake pitching, third place in knot tying, first place in lashings, second place overall for the Klondike Derby events and second place for the campsite inspection.
With three new Scouts, this was a tremendous effort for the troop and they represented Washburn very well. Troop 177 is always looking for new youth between 11 and 18 to join the troop. Meetings are every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Camp Harrison on the Everett Road in Washburn.
