ASHLAND – Glenna Mae (Moreau) LaBelle Louridas, known mostly as “Nana”, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the age of 85 years, surrounded by family. She was born September 18, 1928, in Masardis, the daughter of the late Paul and Effie (Robinson) Moreau.
Glenna was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church, an avid volunteer for the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop and the local RSVP Meals on Wheels. She was a former member of the Ladies of Sodality. She was an avid collector of many knickknacks, especially shells and pretty stones. With a special knack with crafting, she also created many beautiful quilts and hand-knit mementos, which she lovingly shared with her children and loved ones. She enjoyed travel very much and made many trips to Greece with her husband to visit family. When her husband retired in 2000, they enjoyed together 10 warm winters in their home in Florida. One of her greatest joys was attending family reunions, the last one being held in Wells, ME last September. Overall, Glenna is remembered as a loving and nurturing mother who not only loved raising her family, but also shared her joy and love with generations of neighborhood children who lovingly called her “Nana”.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Peter C. Louridas of Ashland; four children, Audrey LaBelle Currier and her husband, Al of Oxbow, Carla LaBelle Hamilton and her husband, Kenny of Littleton, Ned E. LaBelle, Jr. and his wife, Sammi of Ashland, and Athena Louridas Hallowell and her husband, Peter of Presque Isle; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Lastly, she is survived by her constant companion and best friend, Tweetie-Pie (her cat).
Besides her parents, Glenna was predeceased by three brothers, Holman Campbell, Clair Moreau and Paul Moreau; five sisters, Thelma Firth, Uldene Cottle, Melba Learnard, Audrey Bird, and Maxine Hampson; and her first husband, Ned E. LaBelle, Sr.
