PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A Mapleton man has been charged in connection with the theft of a snowmobile and other items from The Sled Shop early Friday morning.

An employee at the South Main Street business notified the police of the theft around 8 a.m. on March 14, stating it looked like someone broke into the cash register. It was also determined several items, including a snowmobile, were missing. Officer Kyle White and Sgt. Mark Barnes of the Presque Isle Police Department responded to investigate.
Stolen from The Sled Shop was a 2012 Skidoo MXZ 800 KRS Turbo snowmobile with distinctive wrap decals. Also taken from the business was Black Glide jacket, a Bombardier helmet and a pair of Katahdin Gear bib snow pants, as well as items, cash and checks from the register.
Shop officials told police the snowmobile was last seen around 7 p.m. the night before.
Police did not indicate how entry was made into the business.
The snowmobile, as well as some of the stolen items, were subsequently recovered by an officer with the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office on March 16 around 7:30 a.m. No checks or cash were found.
Quinn Harvey, 32, of Mapleton, was taken into custody after a brief scuffle with Sgt. Forrest Dudley, of the ACSO, with assistance from Officer Kevin Schumacher, of the PIPD. Harvey was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. Dudley charged Harvey with possession of stolen property. Harvey was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center for medical clearance, then taken to the Aroostook County Jail. No court date was available at presstime.
