LIMESTONE, Maine — Recently the Loring Job Corps Center held a virtual community relations and workforce industry meeting with an overview of the many educational and training opportunities the center provides, as well as a snapshot report of the Loring Center rankings nationally.
This year the Loring center was pleased to learn that once again they have achieved rankings in the top 10 percent and continue to be leaders in the mission of Job Corps throughout the nation.
During the meeting the group also focused on the growing information technology training opportunities given at Loring, with a presentation given by the senior IT trainer Jason Chasse.
Chasse explained the training courses offered at Loring and how they serve as a bridge to further IT certifications and job opportunities. Loring offers three IT training courses, including CISCO computer cabling and networking, advanced computer systems support administrator, and cyber operations.
In addition to the presentations and updates, this meeting also allowed the center to thank its many partners for their continued support to ensure Loring remains a leader in youth development.
The meeting ended with the center presenting the Loring Center Impact Award to Hebert Rexall Pharmacy for their unsurpassed efforts in not only supporting the center but also ensuring it was one of the firsts to reopen.
Kristie Moir, center director, and Roger Felix, center liaison, presented the award to the Heberts.
“This partner exemplifies our center’s core values and has on many occasions gone out of their way using their own personal time to support our needs,” Felix said.
“From providing daily medications to traveling to the center and providing vaccine clinics for students and staff, their efforts have resulted in raising our vaccination status to a greater operational level, ensuring our students could return to in person learning — and in turn earlier success for our students,” he said.
