PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Beautiful weather greeted visitors at Aroostook State Park on Feb. 22, as hundreds gathered for the annual Winter Fun Day — Take It Outside event.

“The day was  a huge success, with 800-plus visitors enjoying the day. The perfect weather offered a great opportunity for family and friends to enjoy Maine’s First State Park,” said Scott Thompson, ASP director.
Thompson said the day saw many folks enjoying the equipment from the Maine State Park ski/snowshoe trailer and more.
“They also enjoyed snowmobile tote rides out on Echo Lake, sliding down the sliding hill, and becoming part of nature on the guided nature hike. Participants also enjoyed the warm food, which energized us all to do it all again,” said Thompson.
He said the day’s success was the joint effort of many volunteers.
“Our success comes only because we had so many volunteers and sponsors that donated their time and funding, ensuring the event was well received by all,” said Thompson. “Thank you to all who spent time with us.”
