HOULTON, Maine — The annual Harvest Festival returns to downtown Houlton this weekend to herald in the upcoming autumn season.
Sponsored by the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce and run by the Houlton Community Market, the Harvest Festival is a small event to celebrate the bountiful farmers of the area.
“We will have additional vendors, pumpkin painting, and lots of things for the kids to do,” said Jane Torres, executive director of the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., one side of Market Square will be closed to vehicle traffic, to allow people to walk freely around the Community Market vendors and to check out the special booths and games set up for the Harvest Festival.
Some of the activities include pumpkin painting, with free pumpkins on a first-come, first-served basis.
Music will also be provided this year, and a food booth has been added for those looking to grab a bite to eat.
