Smile Cookies aid Pink Aroostook

CARIBOU, Maine — Cary Medical Center’s Pink Aroostook is one of 22 charities in the U.S. that will benefit from a cookie campaign.

Every year, Tim Hortons restaurant owners support their communities through a weeklong Smile Cookie campaign. The campaign donates 100 percent of the purchases of Smile Cookies — chocolate chunk cookies decorated with icing smiles —to local charities.

Cary Medical Center’s Pink Aroostook Breast Cancer Awareness and Support Program was selected by Tim Hortons as one of the charities the project will support.  Cindy Blanchette, RN, who coordinates the Pink Aroostook Program, said she was thrilled that it had been selected.

“We are so grateful that Tim Hortons has chosen Pink Aroostook as one of the supported charities,” Blanchette said.

Blanchette has also established a cancer support group at the hospital.

“The resources that the Smile Cookie campaign provides will help us continue to provide support, education, share awareness, and advocate for breast cancer patients here in Aroostook County,” she said.

Last year, over $230k was raised to support 18 charities and hospitals across the U.S. Back again for its 26th year, the cookie week is a much-anticipated event in communities across the U.S. and Canada.

“At Tim Hortons, we take pride in being part of and serving our local communities,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons. “As we enter our 26th year of the Smile Cookie campaign, we continue to be inspired to see Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners come together to give back to their neighbors.”

To participate, visit a local restaurant or place a digital order through the Tim Hortons app and/or website. The Smile Cookie sells for $1.00, excluding taxes.
