NEWRY, Maine – The Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC) presented LP Building Solutions with the organization’s Outstanding Manufacturing Award at its 62nd Annual Meeting in Newry Sept. 19.
The award, presented by MFPC President Ryan McAvoy, recognized Louisiana Pacific Building Solutions’ commitment to manufacturing excellence, and southern Aroostook County, as exemplified by its recent investment in the Houlton facility to transition production to its innovative engineered wood siding, LP Smartside. With this investment, the Houlton facility became the first on the East Coast to produce this high-quality product.
“When selecting the first east coast location for LP SmartSide, there were several contenders,” said McAvoy. “In the end, LP Building Solutions chose to invest in Maine. The Maine Forest Products Council is grateful to LP for recognizing the value of our industry, our people and our heritage. Thanks to Louisiana Pacific Building Solution’s recent $150 million investment in the conversion of its Houlton facility, it will be secure for years to come.”
“LP Building Solution’s commitment is a prime example of how Maine’s forest industry is actively growing Maines’s economy,” said Patrick Strauch, executive director of the Maine Forest Products Council
