PRESQUE ISLE – Two stolen vehicles were recovered over the weekend, and one individual has been charged in connection with at least one of the thefts.     The Presque Isle Police Department were notified of an accident early on Saturday, Sept. 15, and that a vehicle had gone off the Burlock Road. Officer Kevin Schumacher responded. Upon arrival, Schumacher discovered a pickup truck had struck a utility pole. No one was around the vehicle. A local resident called the department a few hours later, reporting her vehicle had been stolen.
Police were able to determine that the missing vehicle was in fact the abandoned truck on the Burlock Road. Jerry’s Towing Service removed the heavily damaged truck.
This was the second vehicle stolen from the Presque Isle area in a two-day period.
The PIPD responded to the report of a vehicle stolen Friday evening from Autotech Plus on Davis Street, where the vehicle had been dropped off to be serviced.
The automobile was located in Easton on Saturday by Trooper Todd Stetson. According to police, Joshua Holmes, 20, of Presque Isle, was found asleep in the vehicle. Holmes faces at least one charge and has been summonsed to appear in Presque Isle District Court at a later date.
“Holmes has been charged with  unauthorized use of property,” said Maine State Police Sgt. David McPherson.
Police are continuing to investigate the two cases and whether the two incidents are related.
The cases may be related, since both vehicles were taken from properties in the same neighborhood.
