To the editor:
Election day is less than a month away. Our local media, print and television, are doing an abysmal job of providing voters with the information necessary to cast an informed vote. I haven’t seen any candidate profiles, coverage of policy positions or sponsoring of debates.
This leaves us with only ads and other “information” provided or sponsored by the candidates themselves or by their political parties or pacs. All of that is biased by definition: consider the source.
It has traditionally been the job of local media to inform the local electorate, so any voter who wants to make an informed choice based on unbiased information can do so. Our local media outlets are failing to do this work.
