Since Super Bowl Sunday 2008, Aroostook Women’s Ski Day has been a fun event, bringing women from all over The County and New Brunswick to take lessons in ski and snowshoe technique, enjoy the Nordic Heritage Center trails, participate in workshops in nutrition, yoga and meditation, and share a delicious lunch donated by Café Sorpreso.
This year, local businesses and individuals donated over 60 door prizes and funds to make the event a success. Started by a group of women from Maine Winter Sports Center, Nordic Heritage Sport Club, the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and Hope & Justice Project, the Aroostook Women’s Ski Day is a great chance for women to get together, feel empowered and give back to the community.
Plans are already under way for next year. So mark your calendar for Aroostook Women’s Ski Day on Feb. 1, 2015.
