The Mapleton High School Alumni Association will be holding its annual business meeting Wednesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Gloria Wilcox at 90 Pelkey Road in Mapleton.
The planning of the annual alumni banquet will be discussed, as well as scholarships and any other business. The meeting is open to all Mapleton alumni — your attendance is welcome! For more information, please call Anita at 764-0221.

Community Center meeting
The Presque Isle Community Center Campaign Committee will be making a presentation to the Joint Board of Selectmen Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Mapleton Lions Hall. The meeting is open to the public and all residents of Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman are encouraged to attend.
The presentation will focus on the proposed community center project and community buy-in to the center.
Easter services
The Mapleton United Baptist Church will be celebrating Easter week with a Maundy Thursday Service Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. The service will include scripture, music and communion in observance of the Last Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The church will also host be a brief sunrise service followed by a breakfast on Easter Sunday, April 20 at 7:30 a.m. Sunday School will be held at 9:30 a.m. and the Easter worship service at 10:45 a.m.
Class of 1949 reunion
A reunion is being planned for Mapleton High School’s Class of 1949. Anyone who was ever a member of the class from elementary school up through high school is invited to attend to celebrate the class’s 65th reunion.
The reunion will be held Friday, June 28 at noon at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center. To RSVP, please contact Esther Bull Hewett at 762-3731 or Connie Moran McCrum at 570-7456.
Carter family reunion

National Guard promotion
Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell, the adjutant general for Maine, would like to announce that Connor Savage, of Mapleton, has been promoted to the rank of private first class to the 185th Engineer Co.
Savage is a 2013 graduate of Presque Isle High School and is currently attending classes at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. His future plans include transferring to the University of Maine at Orono to enroll in the civil engineering program. He is the son of Shawn and Julie Savage of Mapleton.
