GORMLEY, Pauline Marie (Hussey), 87, GROVELAND, MA & PRESQUE ISLE, ME, at Haverhill, MA, April 12, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with burial at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. Arrangements are in care of Paul C. GROVELAND, MA & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Pauline Marie (Hussey) Gormley, age 87, longtime Groveland resident, passed peacefully Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 62 years of the late Joseph T. Gormley who died September 20, 2010.
Born in Presque Isle, ME, June 29, 1926, she was one of seven children of the late Guy B. and Mary M. (Moran) Hussey and having grown up in Maine, graduated from high school in Presque Isle.
Pauline raised four children while her husband served 21 years in the Air Forces’ Strategic Air Command who was often overseas for long periods of time. She also worked in the cafeteria at the Bagnall School in Groveland until her retirement.
An avid bowler as well as an avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and all kinds of puzzles. Above all else, time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, was her most favorite. Her fulfillment in life came from helping family and friends through the good times and the bad, and being able to laugh through it all.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Pauline was predeceased by her three brothers, Ted, Ralph and Wesley Hussey; and her two sisters, Betty and Florence.
Her survivors include her daughter, Cathleen M. Bergh and husband, Herbert of Haverhill; her three sons, Joseph G. Gormley and wife, Yvonne of East Greenwich, RI, James E. Gormley and wife, Susan of Newbury, and Calvin M. Gormley and wife, Nancy of Rowley; her seven grandchildren who filled her heart with such joy, Eric, Vanessa and Patrick Gormley, Ameila and Guy Gormley, and Ashleigh and Kayleigh Bergh; her beloved brother, Bernard Hussey of Easton, ME; along with several generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, all of whom will truly miss her.
A period of visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Paul C. Rogers-Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, MA, immediately followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with burial at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 40 Water Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
