Briana White is an extremely active and outgoing teenager who has not allowed her exercise-induced asthma to slow her down. She played basketball, soccer and volleyball throughout high school and was captain of both Varsity Soccer and Varsity Basketball. In recognition of her effective management of her asthma, as well as her academic achievements and extracurricular activities, White has been awarded an honorable mention in the 2007 Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America/New England Chapter (AAFANE) Scholarship Contest for high school seniors.
“Asthma does not have control of me; I have control over my asthma,” said White.
Indeed, White has learned to manage her asthma by understanding her symptoms, recognizing their triggers and taking asthma medications. She also makes sure those around her are aware of her asthma and are able to assist her in case of an emergency. White recently graduated from Easton High School, where, in addition to sports, she was active in various extracurricular activities and held many leadership positions. White has also won multiple academic honors, including Who’s Who Among American High School Students, honor roll and National Honor Roll.
White is among 23 outstanding students from around New England being recognized by the AAFANE.
