The Mapleton Daze Committee thanks everyone who came out to their kids’ shopping and activity event recently at the Mapleton Elementary School.
All the kids who attended laughed and giggled through the morning. Even the Mapleton Daze “elves” had as much fun as the kids did, whether they were helping kids select gifts or helping them wrap their gift choices.
The kids enjoyed doing their own shopping even with a little help from the elves or their escorts.
While shopping for family was the highlight of the morning, a visit with Santa was a strong second place. Here, some Mapleton kids talk with Santa and give him their Christmas wishes. He made a list of all the requests to take to with him when he returned to his workshop.

Among the highlights of the morning was the arrival of Santa, who came to visit with the young people. Most of the youngsters really enjoyed having him there, even though there might have been a few that were “iffy” on him. Santa made a list of all of the requests the kids made and he took the list back to the North Pole with him.
Santa said this was the most fun event he has been to this year, and he was so glad he attended.
At the Mapleton Daze Kids Christmas Shopping Event, there were trays of undecorated sugar cookies, which the kids enjoyed frosting with red and green frosting. The cookies were enjoyed by the kids and their escorts as the frosting ended up not only on the cookies, but on the hands and faces of lots of kids.

Having fun with sweet treats is an essential part of Christmas. At the shopping day, there was a big pile of bare sugar cookies that needed to be decorated with red and green frosting. Of course, the artists were able to eat or take their cookie art projects with them.
For the artistic, there was a chance to do a watercolor painting of a snowy owl. Kids were able to use their own individual creativity in deciding how to finish their pictures.
While waiting for their turns at shopping and visiting Santa, the youngsters at the Mapleton Kids Christmas Shopping Event had the opportunity to paint their own watercolor picture of a snowy owl.

The Mapleton Daze Committee is looking forward to next year’s shopping event. They plan to make this a regular event on their calendar.
New Year’s Eve dance
The final Mapleton Daze fundraiser for 2022 will be a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Of course, the celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 1 a.m. The location of the dance will be the Aroostook River Snowmobile Club, located at 407 Richardson Rd. in Wade.
The cost to attend will be based on dancers and their donations toward Mapleton Daze Events in 2023.
The committee extends an invitation to those who would like to join them on New Year’s Eve and help celebrate 2022 and welcome in 2023. There will be lots of music, karaoke, snacks, great company and so much more at the celebration.
