Grass, Bailey and Wright earn Mars Hill crowns

    The Pre-Teen, Junior and Teen Miss Mars Hill 2014 pageants were held on Saturday, April 12.
The event began with the interviews taking place in the afternoon. The pageants kicked off at 6 p.m., with the contestants doing their opening routine. This year’s theme was “Only In America.”
Mistresses of ceremony for the evening were Brittni Mosher and Janice Mosher. The evening’s competition started with the Sportswear category, followed by the Talent segment, followed by the Evening Gown competition. The contestants gave a short speech about why they are proud to be an American.
The Talent competition for the Miss Pre-Teen contestants began with Sarah Maillett, the daughter of Jason and Heather Maillett, singing “Feeling Good.” She was named first runner-up.
Libby Grass was named Pre-Teen Miss Mars Hill 2014. She did a Gymnastics Routine to “Do the Olympic Dance” as her talent. Libby is the daughter of Neil and Lisa Grass and also received the award for High Ticket Sales.
The first contestant for the Junior Miss Mars Hill 2014 title was Mersaydez Johnston, who sang “Demons” as her talent. She is the daughter of Rusty Johnston and Malissa Boynton.
Michaela Pelletier is the daughter of Michael and Maggie Blevins and Dale and Cassie Pelletier. Named the second runner-up, she danced to “Wild, Wild West” as her talent.
Sabrina Brewer entertained the audience, singing “Sad.” The daughter of Mark and Stephanie Brewer, Sabrina was named Miss Congeniality.
Meagan Willis was named third runner-up. The daughter of Christopher Small and Corinna Willis, she performed a hula-hoop routine to “Waka, Waka” as her talent.
Lydia Miller was named first runner-up. She performed a lyrical dance to “Hallelujah.” She is the daughter of Calvin and Shelby Miller.
Isabelle Wright is the daughter of Edward and Tracey Wright. Named Junior Miss Mars Hill 2014, she sang “Popular” as her talent.
The first contestant for the Teen Miss Mars Hill 2014 title was Ivy Davis, who performed a Salsa dance to “Mambo Italiano” as her talent. Named first runner-up, she is the daughter of Jason and Heather Maillett.
Noelle Bailey is the daughter of Alan Bailey and Kelly White. She sang “Bobby McGee” as her talent and was crowned Teen Miss Mars Hill 2014.
Entertainment was provided throughout the evening by Pre-Teen Miss Mars Hill 2013 Elizabeth Hotham, Junior Miss Mars Hill 2013 Lillie Mahan, Teen Miss Mars Hill 2013 Elizabeth Gillen, Miss Mars Hill 2014 Brittany Baird, as well as Pre-Teen Maine Potato Queen 2013 Janelle Tweedie and Junior Miss Potato Queen 2013 Chloe Wheeler.
