April vacation activities
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has plenty of activities planned at the William Haskell Community Center during the current school vacation.
Today features kickball and wiffleball tournaments at the Forum. The kickball tourney is for grades 3-6 and meets from 9-10:30 a.m. and the wiffleball tourney is for the same grade levels and runs from 10:30-11:45 a.m.
The highlight of vacation week is the traditional peanut carnival, which will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. at the community center on Thursday, April 24. The event is open for grades K through 6. Children will pay a $1 admission fee and will be given gold coins which are good to play a variety of carnival games. Coins can be cashed in at the end of the event for a goody bag. All children will also be eligible for a bike giveaway.
The Aroostook County dodgeball tournament is planned for Friday, April 25. Teams from recreation departments from throughout the County will converge at the community center for the double-elimination tourney, which begins at 10 a.m. Divisions will be for grades 3-5 and 6-8.
Co-ed softball
The recreation department will host its annual co-ed softball meeting Thursday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the William Haskell Community Center. All teams planning to play in the league this summer should have a representative at the meeting. Call 764-2545 for more information.
