MANCHESTER – Robert “Bob” King, beloved husband and father, son and brother, passed away April 17, 2014, from cancer of the small intestine. He was 56. Born in Presque Isle, September 9, 1957, Bob lived most of his life in Maine and considered himself a true Mainer and a “County Boy.”
He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine in 1980, and in 1999 a M.S. in Business from Husson College. He used his degrees to build three separate mini-careers in Maine at Central Maine Power Company, Cuddledown of Maine, and the Maine State Housing Authority. By far, it was the last years at the Housing Authority that graced Bob with the greatest opportunities while he worked with some of the most knowledgeable and caring people in the state to effectively design and deliver much needed support programs to financially struggling Maine people.
Robert was predeceased by his older brother, Richard D. “Butch” King II.
He is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Crystal Hamilton and their son, Michael King of Manchester; Crystal’s son, Christopher and his wife, Rebecca of Lincoln, Calif.; his parents, Richard and Irene King; brothers, Tom of Presque Isle, and William and his wife, Dawn of Mapleton; and brother- and sister-in-law and nephew Brian, Joan and Jesse Perkins of Veazie.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Manchester Grange on U.S. Route 202 in Manchester.
