Parties mark Libby’s 90th birthday

Ardis Libby of Crouseville celebrated her 90th birthday for nearly a week and had lots of surprises. Her granddaughter, Libby Powell, of Nashville, Tenn., flew in the Friday before her birthday and visited for five days. That was a total surprise, as none of the family except her mom knew she was coming. On March 8, she enjoyed dinner at Teresa’s Café with her son, daughter, granddaughter and niece.

On March 9, her church, Crouseville Advent Christian Church, held a potluck dinner and surprised her with a party, complete with balloons, fresh flowers and old photographs projected on an overhead screen, a “Birthday Chronicle” telling about news and events which occurred on March 11, 1924, the day Ardis was born. A beautiful birthday cake was made by Ardis Humphrey, and she received many gifts and cards. Tim and Carolyn O’Donnell of Glenburn and Peter and Phoebe Flewelling of New Hampshire surprised her and attended church and the party. They are dear friends of Ardis. It was such a treat for everyone to see.
On March 11, she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a  heart-shaped pendant from her family. She also received many cards and telephone calls. She attended the Senior Luncheon at the Mission building and was treated to two birthday cakes, one made by Ardis Humphrey and one made by Cathy Burgess, Postmistress in Crouseville.
That evening,  with family, she enjoyed dinner at Café Sorpreso. Bob and Sherry Thibodeau surprised her and joined in for dinner. Ardis said, “This was the best birthday ever!”
