PRESQUE ISLE — Mike’s & Sons may be a newcomer to the Presque Isle landscape but owner Jonathan Nadeau has years of experience with lawn and garden equipment, having got his start working with his father, Mike Nadeau, at the family’s Fort Kent-based company of the same name.

MIKE’S & SONS has opened for business at 87 State St. in Presque Isle. The business sells and services Cub Cadet and other lawn and garden equipment. This is the second location for the family-owned and operated business, which is headquartered in Fort Kent.     “We’ve been in business in Fort Kent for 26 years. I grew up working in the shop. Me and my two brothers have worked for our father for years. I thought it was time to branch out and open a second location,” said Nadeau. “Presque Isle seemed like a great spot for a second branch.”
The Presque Isle facility officially opened in mid-April at 87 State St., at the five-way intersection.
“It’s a great spot with lots of visibility. Response has been great,” he said.
The business is staffed by Nadeau, Salesman Jamie Voisine and Technician Sam Boutot.
“We’re a full-line Cub Cadet dealer, handling both sales and service — with a focus on service, including other brands. We also sell lawn and garden products, including names like Echo, Jonsered and Yanmar. We service all brands,” said Nadeau. “Even if you didn’t purchase an item from us, we’ll honor warranties and service items purchased at other dealers.”
For those looking to do maintenance on their own equipment, Mike’s carries a selection of parts and accessories. Whether you need oil for a chainsaw or a replacement belt or blade for a mower deck, or sheer pins for your snowblower, Mike’s is the place to go.
“If we don’t have what you’re looking for, whether it’s a tractor, accessory or a specific part, we can order it if we don’t have it in stock. It takes one to two days to order parts,” said Nadeau.
If you’re looking to buy but don’t have the cash, no problem.
“We have a great financing program,” said Voisine. “We’ll work to get you the equipment you need.”
Need maintenance done or want to purchase a machine but don’t have a way to drop it off or pick it up? No problem; pick-up and delivery are available.
“We’ll pick up and deliver throughout Aroostook County. We also have a ‘test-drive’ program. We’ll bring, for example, a lawnmower to your property so you can test it for yourself and see how it works for you and your particular lawn,” said Nadeau.
Mike’s has mowers to fit any need, from push mowers to tractors.
“We carry everything from 18-horse to 49-horse — lawn and garden to 4-by-4 tractors. We have 30-inch up to 72-inch decks,” he said. “One thing we’re really enthusiastic about is our zero-turn riders, with steering wheels.”
The business also offers rentals of some lawn and garden maintenance equipment.
“We have power broom rentals and a few other rental pieces, to help make lawn and driveway cleanup easier and more affordable,” said Nadeau.
The business will be hosting a grand opening event on Saturday, May 10.
“That will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’ll have Cub Cadet test drives, with a course set up for people to try our zero-turn tractors. We’ll be offering special rates on equipment on that date — deposits will hold items on that date. We’ll also have a hotdog and hamburger cookout,” said Nadeau. “We’re looking forward to a great event, so stop by and check us out.”
Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 762-6310 or look for Mike’s & Sons on Facebook.
