MARS HILL, Maine — Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School Principal Dr. Kay York is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2023 Principal’s Award, Frankie Pierce. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.
Pierce is an amazing young lady who not only strives to do her best academically but also exhibits outstanding character as she interacts with peers and adults in a caring and respectful manner. Throughout high school, Pierce has challenged herself academically taking advanced classes as well as college classes and achieving highest honors. Along with her outstanding academic performance, she was involved in numerous extracurricular activities including, the manager of the girls basketball team, 4-H, Aroostook Valley Baby Beef as secretary and president and National Honor Society. Pierce also held several jobs throughout high school, including Smith Farms and is co-owner of Rustling Birches Ranch!
Pierce, Dr. York (and other award winners and their principals) will attend an honors luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 1 at 12:30 p.m. The luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
