The Central Aroostook Probus met March 16 at Northern Maine Community College.
The speaker was Kim Smith, director of resource development and public information for the city of Presque Isle. Probus members were informed of a number of upcoming events in Presque Isle over the coming year. Three were discussed in detail.
In August there will be a Wednesday through Saturday event featuring antique automobiles, pre-1931, from throughout the United States. The group holding the event is the Antique Automobile Club of America. They will tour the central Aroostook area as well as hold a Main Street event on Thursday evening.
In April 2024 a large number of people are expected to visit the area to view the total eclipse of the sun, and also next year there will be a return to Presque Isle of World War II-era military planes to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
A discussion of these and other events followed.
The next Probus meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Reed Commons on the Northern Maine Community College campus. Visitors are welcome.
